The years of studying Medicine – Pediatrics gave me the gift of knowledge of the human body and the magnificence of the microscopic world.
Night time trekking on the snowy slopes of Mount Taygetos, the beauty of the starry night lit a spark inside me; to learn more about the mysteries of the cosmos. I longed to discover the world of astronomy and learn to decode the night sky.
Through online courses at the University of Liverpool (John Moores Liverpool University) every night I studied the stars in the sky with my binoculars and my telescope.
As a member of the Astronomical Union of Sparta, the journey across the cosmos continues…

Sofia Karabetsou – Salapata

With the help of a nail polish brush and improvised paints, Sofia started at a very young age to express thoughts and feelings through her paintings.
A Graduate of French Literature and a postgraduate in Greek Literature as well as a curator of the library at the “Lykeion ton Hellenidon” (LtH – Lyceum Club of Greek Women) in Athens; painting has always been an integral part of her life.
She attended drawing lessons for 15 years at LtH under the guidance of professor Lorenzo Karpathakis and studied Art for six years with the renowned painter Georgios Pitsios.
She has won acclaim in group exhibitions at the Philological Association Parnassos and in LtH, while one of her works is exhibited in the art gallery of Syros.
