“What do you live for?” he asked me.
“What d’ you mean, what do I live for??”
“Why do you live? What purpose do you live for? What are you doing on this land?”
Patrick was speaking so simply. To understand him, I had to think like a small child.
“I had a purpose, but I think I’ve achieved it. I became what I wanted to be. I created a big advertising company, one of the biggest in my country. I made a lot of money, and even more when I sold it. I hit the headlines. I became popular within a day.”
“If you fulfilled your purpose, what aren’t you happy? Why are you afraid of death? Could it be that this was not your real purpose in life? I think that, if you had achieved your goal in life, nothing would be able to scare you now. You would be complete.”
Fear of death, everyone’s personal purpose, the role of material things, the meaning of spiritual goods, human relations, life’s trials and tribulations and risks—all these are dealt with in the present book.
Millionaire Kevin and his “persistent monkey,” who finally becomes his best friend, carry us away on an internal quest to find essence, serenity, a second chance, and the meaning of life. Kevin found all this. What about you?
